Old Testament: Isaiah 25:6-9
On this mountain the Lord of Armies will prepare a feast for all people with the best foods, a banquet with aged wines, with the best foods and the finest wines. On this mountain he will remove the veil of grief covering all people and the mask covering all nations. He will swallow up death forever. The Almighty Lord will wipe away tears from every face, and he will remove the disgrace of his people from the whole earth. The Lord has spoken.
On that day his people will say, “This is our God; we have waited for him, and now he will save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for him. Let us rejoice and be glad because he will save us.”
Epistle Reading: 1 Peter 1:3-9
Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! God has given us a new birth because of his great mercy. We have been born into a new life that has a confidence which is alive because Jesus Christ has come back to life. We have been born into a new life which has an inheritance that cannot be destroyed or corrupted and cannot fade away. That inheritance is kept in heaven for you, since you are guarded by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed at the end of time.
In this you rejoice, even though now you have to suffer various troubles for a little while. These tests the genuineness of your faith as fire tests how genuine gold is. Your faith is more precious than gold, and by passing the test, it gives praise, glory and honor to God. This will happen when Jesus Christ appears again.
Although you have never seen Christ you love him. You don’t see him now but you believe in him. You are rejoice with joy that is inexpressible, and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
Gospel Reading: John 14:1-6
[Jesus said,] “Don’t be troubled. Believe in God, and believe in me. My Father’s house has many rooms. If that were not true, would I have told you that I’m going to prepare a place for you? If I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again. Then I will bring you into my presence so that you will be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you’re going. So how can we know the way?”
Jesus answered him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
